This year we are looking to combine the cabin visit and service project with some winter camping for those who have the appropriate equipment.  The cabin is not huge so we are trying to have as many outdoor campers as possible to minimize being too cozy indoors.  To assess who is ready to do some outdoor camping,  I have attached a list of items to consider for winter camping (download list by clicking herenavigate to list on web page by clicking here).  Keep in mind that the list is slanted more towards a backpacking trip so it is more extensive that what you'll need for this Weaver cabin trip.  For example, you may not need a backpack but you will need to have a suitable container in which to place your clothes and personal items.  The scoutmaster will be talking about the list at the  troop meeting on January 24th and several Scouts will bring their equipment for others to look at and discuss.

One of the most important items to check on right now is a suitable sleeping bag.  The troop leadership wants to ensure that anyone who plans to sleep outside the cabin will have a sleeping bag with enough insulation to keep the scout warm.

Take a look at the list, check out your sleeping bag, and come to the meeting on January 24th to talk about winter camping.
