Dear Parents and Scouts of Troop 17: As you know, Troop 17 is signed up for summer camp June 19 to June 25 at Camp Shenandoah. It is time to start the paperwork and obtain commitments for going to camp. This year the cost for camp is $175.00 per scout. There is a $5.00 discount for scouts who commit to gong to camp early (see timeline below). I will collect the names for those interested and submit the name and a $10 deposit for each Scout who makes an early election to attend camp. A note about physicals: A physical is required of all Scouts attending camp and for adults staying at camp more than 72 hours. Adults staying less than 72 hours do have to complete the Class 1 physical questionnaire. Your past Class 1 and 2 physicals are good for 36 months. Class 3 physicals (adults 40 and older) are good for 12 months. Please check your forms and see if you need a new physical. I have copies of the physicals from last year if you do not have your copy. I have attached copies of the physical forms for your use. Class 1 & 2 physical forms are required of all scouts and for adults under the age of 40. Adults who are 40 or older require a Class 3 physical. Adult leaders. To attend camp, the troop must provide at least two adult leaders throughout the camp week. This can be done by adults staying over the entire week or by multiple adults staying turns staying on a rotation basis. Either way works but I do need to know who would like to participate as an adult leader. You do not need to be a registered leader with the troop, just have a sincere desire to be a part of this camp experience. If you have questions, please contact me. By the way, this opportunity is open to moms and dads alike. Provisional campers: For those scouts unable to attend camp during the June 19 - 25 session, there is an option to attend camp as a "Provisional Camper." This year provisional camping is being permitted during the 3rd through 6th weeks of camp. These dates include: July 3 - 9, July 10 -16, July 17 - 23, and July 24 - July 30. The provisional camper fee is $175. There is a reservation fee of $25 for each provisional camper. This $25 fee is non-refundable but is included in the $175 total camp fee.
